Join us in the heart of London for a  6km walk to raise awareness about the daily struggles millions of women and children in Africa face just to access clean water. As part of the event, participants will carry water-filled jerry cans, simulating the journey.

This walk is about fostering empathy, understanding, and action to address the global water crisis. It’s a powerful way to connect with an urgent issue and show your support for those in need, all while experiencing something truly unique in London’s city centre.

Let’s walk together and take steps toward a better future!

Why Do We Walk?

We walk because everyone deserves access to their basic right: clean and safe drinking water. We organise Walk2Water to build empathy and raise awareness about the struggles. Without access to a sustainable water source nearby, thousands of people, especially women and girls, must walk long distances every day, often carrying 20 litres of water on their heads or shoulders along rocky and unpaved roads. They walk to survive.

  • When a woman spends her day fetching water, a child loses the care of their mother.
  • When a girl walks to collect water, she misses the chance to attend school.
  • When a heavy jerry can is carried, it can cause severe injuries to the spine.
  • Most tragically, the water collected from far-off puddles is often neither clean nor safe to drink, leading to deadly waterborne diseases.

Each year, two million people lose their lives due to contaminated water and water-related illnesses.

What We Aim to Achieve?

At Time to Help UK, we are dedicated to providing clean and safe drinking water to communities in need through sustainable solutions. With over 100 water wells already built, our mission is to reach even more people and enable their communities to thrive with health, education, and prosperity.

The Walk2Water project raises awareness and funds to support the construction of new water wells, particularly in Africa and Asia. By walking together, we take meaningful steps to help people gain access to life’s most essential resource.

Who Can Participate?

Anyone who shares our vision and is eager to make a difference is welcome to join us! Individuals over 18 years old, who are ready to take on a small challenge—such as walking with a jerry can filled with 10 litres of water—are encouraged to participate in Walk2Water.

It’s an opportunity to challenge yourself, raise awareness, and support a life-changing cause.

How You Can Support?

We encourage participants to raise funds to support the building of new water wells.

Here are some tips to make fundraising simple and effective:

  • Spread the word: Share your goal with friends, family, and colleagues.
  • Leverage social media: Use your accounts to raise awareness and encourage donations.
  • Host small events: Organise a quiz night, film screening, or bake sale to collect contributions.
  • Challenge others: Invite your friends to participate or contribute to the cause.

To support participants in their fundraising efforts, we provide instructions for setting up personal donation pages through Enthuse, linked to Time to Help UK.

As a token of appreciation, we present a special gift to the participant who raises the highest donations.

Join Us in Making a Difference

Together, we can turn the challenge of walking for water into a solution that changes lives. By supporting Walk2Water, you are not only raising awareness but also directly contributing to creating sustainable access to clean and safe water for those who need it most.

Every step we take brings us closer to a world where no one has to walk to survive.
